Why it is different

The noise thing is not a marketing line

Every inverter we install makes some noise. Most use a fan to move heat out of the enclosure, and a fan under load is audible. It is the single most common complaint we deal with after an otherwise clean install, and it is almost always a position problem rather than a product fault.

The ESA is fanless. GoodWe rates it under 30 decibels and had the three phase version certified by TÜV as a low noise residential system.

What that changes practically is where the unit can go. On a narrow block where the switchboard sits on the bedroom side of the house, or an apartment or townhouse with neighbours close by, the ESA opens up positions other systems cannot use. If you have been told a battery has to go somewhere inconvenient because of noise, this is the one to ask about.

Four things we tell people before quoting

Backup is built in rather than bolted on

With most brands, whole home backup means a separate gateway or changeover box, which is a real cost line and real switchboard work. The ESA carries the backup output internally, rated at 63 amps on single phase and via an 80 amp bypass on three phase. That does not make the switchboard work disappear, but it removes a component from the quote.

Old and new modules can run together

GoodWe allows battery modules of different capacities, new or already in service, to run in the same system. If you are sizing conservatively now with a view to adding later, that matters more than any headline capacity figure.

The 1C rating affects how fast it works, not how much it holds

The cells are rated at 1C charge and discharge, meaning the battery can move roughly its full capacity in an hour rather than over several. Useful if you are on a time of use tariff and want to fill the battery quickly in a cheap window, or pull hard during an evening peak.

Twenty amps per string is generous

The higher input current per MPPT suits the larger panels now standard on new installs, and combined with 200 per cent oversizing it means the array can be sized well above the inverter rating.

Questions we get asked

Is it really quiet enough to put near a bedroom?

It is fanless and rated under 30 decibels, which is quieter than a typical fridge. Position still gets worked out on site, but the ESA removes noise as the deciding factor, which no other system we supply does.

Do I need a separate gateway for backup?

No. Backup output is built into the unit, 63 amps on single phase and an 80 amp internal bypass on three phase. There is still switchboard work involved in wiring backup circuits, but there is no separate gateway component.

Can I add battery capacity later?

Yes, up to six modules on a single phase stack and twelve on three phase. Modules of different capacities can be mixed, including newer modules alongside ones already in service.

Can it go outside?

The enclosure is IP66 rated, covering full dust protection and resistance to high pressure water jets. Outdoor installation is practical, though we still avoid direct western sun where the site allows.
