Fox ESS
Fox ESS is the widest range we carry. Single phase, three phase, and three separate battery lines, which means we can size a system properly rather than pushing you toward whatever fits the one model an installer happens to stock.
What we supply from Fox ESS
Fox ESS builds hybrid inverters designed to run with its own high voltage batteries, which is the main reason the range works well as a package. The inverter and the battery are made to talk to each other rather than being two brands bolted together.
These are the models we carry.
Single phase hybrid
H1 / AC1
3 to 6 kW
The entry point for most homes. Plug and play setup with built-in fuse protection, IP65 rated so it can go on an external wall.
Single phase hybrid
KH / KA
7 to 10.5 kW
For larger single phase homes. The 10 kW unit runs four MPPT trackers, which suits roofs split across several orientations.
Three phase hybrid
H3 Smart
5 to 15 kW
Three phase equivalent, three MPPT trackers across the range. Same high voltage battery compatibility and IP65 enclosure.
Three battery lines, not one
This is where Fox ESS differs from most brands we look at. Rather than a single battery with fixed module sizes, there are three lines with different module capacities, and they stack.
EQ4800
Modules of 4.66 kWh. A master unit plus slave units, up to eight modules on one stack. The smallest step size of the three, which matters when you are sizing tightly against a rebate threshold.
CQ6
Modules of 5.99 kWh, again up to eight per stack. The middle option and the one that suits most households sizing between roughly 12 and 36 kWh.
CQ7
Modules of 6.96 kWh usable, up to eight per stack for around 55 kWh. The largest step, for high consumption homes and small commercial sites.
All three run on the high voltage architecture, which Fox ESS uses to keep round trip efficiency up. A second stack can be added where a single stack runs out of capacity.
Three things we tell people before quoting
You need a smart meter above 5 kW
Any Fox ESS inverter larger than 5 kW requires a smart meter fitted for export and consumption monitoring. It is a small line on the quote rather than a surprise, but it is a real component and it needs to be in the price you are comparing.
Module size decides how tightly you can size
Because the three battery lines use different module capacities, the line we recommend often comes down to what capacity you actually want rather than which battery is better. If your consumption points at 24 kWh, the line that gets closest to 24 kWh without overshooting is usually the right answer.
Outdoor mounting is genuinely fine
The hybrid inverters are IP65 rated, which covers dust ingress and low pressure water jets from any direction. That gives real flexibility on where the unit goes, which matters on houses where the switchboard is in an awkward spot. We still avoid direct western sun where we can.

Questions we get asked
Which battery line should I be looking at?
Usually whichever gets closest to the capacity your consumption actually justifies. EQ4800 steps in 4.66 kWh, CQ6 in 5.99 kWh and CQ7 in 6.96 kWh, so the right line often comes down to sizing rather than performance. We work it out from your usage data.
Can I add more battery later?
Yes. Modules stack, up to eight on a single stack, and a second stack can be added beyond that. Tell us at the first install if you expect to expand, because it affects the inverter we recommend.
Can the inverter go outside?
Yes. The hybrid range is IP65 rated for outdoor installation. We still pick the position carefully to keep it out of direct afternoon sun where the site allows.
What is the smart meter for?
It measures what you export to the grid and what you consume, which is what allows the system to manage the battery properly. It is required on any inverter above 5 kW and it is a separate component on the quote.
How do I monitor it?
Through the Fox ESS app or the web portal. Generation, consumption and battery state are all visible remotely, which also means faults can often be identified without a site visit.
